Our Compass designer was building a boat and contemplating navigation when inspiration struck. Based on the simple needle compass - a cork floating in water with a magnetized needle sticking through it - our ceiling light takes significantly more skill and time to create. Semi-flush ceiling light with a glass shade and a glass diffuser.
